Suno

What it does

Suno turns a text prompt into a complete song — vocals, instruments, arrangement, up to 8 minutes long. Describe the vibe, drop in your lyrics (or let it write them), and out comes something that sounds shockingly like a real track. The v6 models added plain-language part editing and mashups. It's the closest thing to "I have a song in my head, make it real" that exists.

Pricing that matters

Free gives you 50 credits a day — about 10 songs — but it's personal use only, watermarked, with a tiny lifetime download allowance. Pro is $10 a month ($8 annual) for 2,500 credits and commercial rights. The real limit since Sept 2026 isn't credits, it's downloads: 20 a month on Pro. Plan around the cap, not the credits. As of Oct 2026.

Best for

Creators who need original music fast: video soundtracks, demos, songwriting sketches, content background music. If you've ever hummed a melody into your phone, this finishes the job.

The honest take

Best all-around song generator, and the free tier is the most generous daily allowance in the category. Two catches: the download cap is the actual constraint on paid plans, and the RIAA sued Suno over training data back in 2024 — the licensing backdrop is still evolving, so commercial users should keep an eye on it. Test-kitchen free, real-tool paid.
