How I Test

Let me tell you exactly how a review happens around here — no mystique, no “proprietary testing methodology,” no photo of a warehouse full of gadgets I’m definitely not going to pretend I own.

What I actually do

Every pick on this site comes from deep, unglamorous research. I read the docs and the changelogs — that’s where the truth hides. I dig through real user reviews on Reddit, forums, and app stores: not the five-star “GREAT APP!!!” ones, but the three-star ones where people explain exactly what broke. Where there’s a free tier or a demo, I sign up and poke at it myself. I compare pricing and read the fine print so you don’t have to. And I re-verify the facts on a schedule, because in AI, last month’s review is ancient history.

What I don’t do

No fake lab tests. I don’t own a testing facility, and I’ll never claim I bench-tested forty gadgets side by side in one — most review sites making that claim didn’t either. I never claim hands-on time I didn’t have: if I only got as far as the free tier, I’ll say so. And rankings are never for sale. No sponsor has ever bought a better score here, and none will.

How scoring works

Every review ends with a verdict box that shows its work — each criterion scored individually, no black-box number. Here’s the panel I judge everything on:

  • Capability — does it actually do the job, and do it well?
  • Ease of use — can a normal human figure it out?
  • Value for money — is it worth what it costs?
  • Ecosystem & integrations — does it play nicely with your other tools?
  • Honest limits — what’s it bad at? Every tool is bad at something, and I’d rather you hear it from me.

Re-verification

AI moves fast. Prices change overnight, features appear and vanish, free tiers get quietly gutted. So every post carries a publish date and gets re-checked on a schedule — and when I re-verify the facts, I date that too. If you spot something stale, tell me and I’ll fix it.

Affiliate honesty

This site is funded by affiliate links: if you buy through one, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. But money never buys a score — a paid link doesn’t bump a product up the rankings, soften a review, or edit out the flaws. If something wins, it wins on merit.
